Tom cutting a piece of steel down to size so it is the perfect fit for the cut through into Cat’s bedroom, from the old to the newer side of the house.
This is the cut through with the ‘floating’ wall…
Tom has already cut a channel for the steel plate to sit in and support the wall. Cutting into the stone creates the most ridiculous amount of dust, orange dust too, everything is turning orange. EVERYTHING.
Looking up from the corridor downstairs. You can see why this steel support is needed.
There are also steel angles alongside both timber joists that the steel plate will sit on. This will all be hidden under the floor boards. Look at the orange dust….
This is the staircase corner wall (corner number two) with its multiple cracks. Channels are cut into the walls for more steel bars. More orange dust is created…
The chimney breast in Zanna’s bedroom, more channels cut for more steel bars and more orange dust…
Corner number one in Zanna’s bedroom, more channels, steel and orange dust…
The old bathroom wall with steel bars grouted in. The orange dust on the floor here has been mixed with water and is now orange mud…
Dan finishing off the attic floor joists.
Cat raking out the chimney breast in Zanna’s bedroom. This wall is looking great!
Cat’s third attempt to get up onto the new loft floor. This is as far as she got, probably best after last time.
OMG the dust!!! It’s reached the top of the house and has covered the decades of cobwebs, as if someone has sprayed them.
There is a lovely beam somewhere behind the thick cobwebs.
This is going to be so beautiful when it is cleaned up and waxed. It’s very hard to imagine this at the moment though.
We ended the day a bit low. The house is utterly filthy and covered in dust. Everything is a bit depressing at the moment as every room is looking awful. We seem to have totally f***ed the house. I would like to say this is probably the worst point, but it isn’t. Next week we get the house soda blasted top to bottom, so the house will also be covered in thick white dust. Neither of us are looking forward to the clean up process, the thought is making me feel quite nauseous…
Wow those are impressive cobwebs. ๐ธ๐ธ๐ธ๐ท๐ท๐ท๐ฒYou might need a few stiff brooms! ๐งน๐งน๐งน
Just look back through your blog & see how much you’ve already achieved. It’s a tough journey but so worth it xx
Impressed by your pictures & all your hard work……..keep smiling

Thank you D&D! We’ve turned a corner with it all this week and it’s beginning to look beautiful xxx
