I have finally (we found these 5-6 months ago now) sorted through all the old newspapers, cleaned them with a soft brush, flattened them out as best I can and put them into the archive file in date order. There is a load of historic wallpaper that we found too but they are in the… Continue reading Back to it

The heat is on
Disappointingly the addition of the dehumidifier and the fan made very little difference to the condensation levels on the windows this morning. I am still mopping up pools of water on the sills and as soon as I dry the windows they are steaming up again… We need to get more heat in the house.… Continue reading The heat is on
Almost a whole plate
It was another cold and damp day with just George on site, but it is Friday, thankfully (Fridays do come around quickly at the moment). George is digging the trenches at the back deeper, the ground level outside is again higher than the ground level inside, not as bad as the front but it still… Continue reading Almost a whole plate
Glorious, despite the mud
What a glorious day! It was cold but dry and the sun shone all day, perfect as we needed the sun to dry the lime pointing out, it is taking much longer to go off than it should as everything is so wet… Tom and George knocking back the pointing they added yesterday around the… Continue reading Glorious, despite the mud
Drain pipe world
Who knew this place even existed? Europipes in Shipston-on-Stour is a vast site (with a huge warehouse) with pipes and drains as far as you can see, Jasper was astounded. It was a quick pick up of more land drain bits and pieces, angles, T-joints and rubber adaptors (also, who knew land drain piping was… Continue reading Drain pipe world
Ghost writer
It was a quiet weekend with us both having a well needed day off on Saturday, sort of, we both need some time where we aren’t constantly thinking about the house too. A socially distanced dog walk with Laura and her new dog, followed by a night in front of the telly watching a film… Continue reading Ghost writer
Ugh-day
It was one of those days when I think everyone was feeling a bit ‘ugh’, I certainly did and eventually went back to bed in the afternoon as my neck and back pain was a little overwhelming. The weather was awful all day, cold and damp and grey, and the garden resembles a particularly rainy… Continue reading Ugh-day
Sublime!
It was a day of lime plastering with the top coat being finished in the study and being added in Zanna’s bedroom, while a second coat is being added to the landing and stairs. Our freshly repaired old front door looking resplendent with a coat of oil. Mitch and Alan starting on the stairs and… Continue reading Sublime!
Sneaky peek
What a beautifully sunny Autumn day, perfect for a sneaky peek at the roof now we can see it from the ground, it doesn’t disappoint. We can see more of the freshly pointed walls and the new/old roof and it’s everything we had hoped it would be, it’s looking so smart! We will have to… Continue reading Sneaky peek
A very special window
Another awful wet Saturday with torrential rain and howling gales. Thankfully Glynn has very nearly finished working on the outside of the windows (just a small bit of adjustment work needed on one) and is building the frame for the internal window in the partition wall between the landing and Zanna’s bedroom. Previously there was… Continue reading A very special window
